2nd Steps & Suites Support Worker
2nd Steps has independent and assessment suites in the apartment building that serve high risk families. This position is for 2nd Steps supportive Living through Sanctum Care Group.
The support worker will provide support and assistance to all residents of 2nd Steps. You will ensure that all tenants are following lease agreements and 2nd Step program rules. Collaboration with Sanctum Care Group & other existing supports are core to the success of the residents. You must embody the harm reduction and trauma informed care model when providing support to 2nd step residents. The support worker will work on daily tasks with clients such as life skills, routine building, access to community resources, etc.
Wage: $18.00/hour
Position: Casual
Shift times: 07:30-16:00 , 15:30-00:00, 23:30 – 08:00
Supportive living staff Requirements & Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will demonstrate knowledge of:
- Harm Reduction & Trauma and Violence Informed Care.
- Mental health & Addictions
- Child Protection Act
- Community agencies and related support services
- Must retain active CPR and First Aid certification.
- Clear communication skills, teamwork, and relationship building.
- Strong Decision-making in varying situations
- Naloxone Training is an asset.
- OHS standards knowledge is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Data entry & charting shift report
- Provide individual support and facilitate case plan as directed by clinical team.
- Maintain Current tenant supports & Contacts information.
- Support tenants with: Referrals to rides, food services, formula and or baby needs & other
- Check in with all tenants residing at the apartment building on start of shift.
- Enforce and uphold lease agreements & program rules with residents.
- Regular monitoring of security cameras to ensure safety of residents and guests.
- Routine Building Checks: ensuring all hallways, stairwells are clear, exterior doors are locked, Vacant suites are locked.
- Cleanliness – Cleaning garbage or sharps in or around the building
- Complete evacuation and emergency response procedures when necessary (Fire, smoke flooding, etc.)
- Ensuring safety of residents, contacting authorities if required.
