Supervisor
Sanctum Care Group provides care for people living with HIV, or at-risk of acquiring HIV, that is dignified, non-judgmental and unconditional. Recognizing the interconnected challenges our clients face, SCG facilitates individualized and contextualized care for complex patient populations in collaboration with community partners through trauma informed, culturally responsive and evidence-based interventions.
The supervisor provides administrative and clinical oversight of Sanctum Care Group (SCG) programs. They will assist in development, implementation, and evaluation of Sanctum Care Group daily operations in accordance with best practice and Sanctum Care Group policy and procedures. The Supervisor must be Committed to the organization’s trauma informed approach to care and harm reduction principles, ensuring all interactions are dignified, non judgmental, unconditional, and provided without prejudice, living the mission and values of Sanctum Care Group.
Night shift: 23:30 – 08:00 or 19:30 – 08:00
Role & Responsibilities
- Assists with the Sanctum, Sanctum 1.5 & 2nd Steps programs
- Must always embody SCG’s vision and values and ensure they are always upheld.
- Receive any important communication from the day supervisor. In a similar manner, the evening supervisor will hand off any important communication to the night supervisor. This communication will be in written form using supervisor communication tool when applicable
- Accompany the evening staff on their initial round/room check.
- Responsible to identify any staff deficiencies and workflow/inefficiency concerns and address them. Including deficits in knowledge, use of equipment and shift routine.
- The evening supervisor will observe medication administrations to ensure proper procedure is being followed and auditing the MAR & narcotic counts for any discrepancies or concerns.
- Responsible for replacing any sick calls that are received during shift.
- Perform charting review, identifying and addressing any deficits in employee charting. Provide charting training/feedback as necessary.
- Client information audits – Including Care plans, client descriptions, care providers, calendars, alerts, and contact information is all up to date and address as needed.
- Responsible for Scanning all client documents into the database ensuring that the documents are appropriately labelled when scanned.
- Conduct monthly policy reviews and ongoing adherence to policies.
- Monitor staff engagement with clients paying close attention to the quality of interactions and the staff’s response to untoward behaviors.
- Evaluate the interactions between staff, the sharing of workload and the communication between staff. The supervisor will assist the staff in the delivery of succinct and accurate hand off reports to oncoming staff.
- Assess the observation skills of the staff and their ability to critically think situations through, work with staff to hone their skills.
- Provide feedback to Program Director (PD) regarding deficits of staff performance or knowledge
- The supervisor will assist the PD with performance evaluations
- The supervisor will work with the staff to identify client goals and assist the client.
- Work collaboratively with other supervisors of SCG in Maintaining policy and procedure binders.
- Review policies and discuss with PD those policies that require updating
- Ensure the health and safety of all staff under their direct supervision.
- The supervisor will assist staff in maintaining organization of office space
- Crisis Management & address concerns involving personnel and/or clients
- Maintain policies that direct the staff of SCG
- Ensure that all homes have the appropriate supplies needed to provide clinical care and other tasks
- Assisting with Donor relations by managing communication, recognition and maintaining ongoing communications with the Organizations Donor community.
Qualifications and Skills
- 2 years of management within healthcare. Experience with duties including human resource management as well as experience training staff.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to work confidently and independently to resolve problems.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
